Breakdance / Breaking
Mutamba Abudi is a breaker/ breakdancer. He is a performer, teacher and competitor. He is also an event organizer, and has been part of organizing teams for many dance, music, arts and community events.
He is a member of Breakdance Project Uganda (BPU), a voluntary non-profit organization that uses dance, Hiphop and other art forms for empowerment, education and social change. Abudi started breakdancing in 2010 when he joined BPU. In the organization, he is a student, teacher, as well as a member of the admin team. He also a member of the TirupatiUnderground crew.
Over the years, he has performed, taught and competed in many parts of Uganda. He has also judged many local breakdance competitions. Outside of Uganda, he has performed, taught and participated in events and programs in Poland, Tanzania (Zanzibar), Rwanda and Kenya.
Abudi worked with schools (local & international), NGOs, arts organizations, festivals and commercial companies.He has taught at schools such as, Kampala Community International School (KCIS), International School of Uganda (ISU), French School of Kampala, Blessed Toddlers Junior School Nansana, Acacia International School and Kampala Community International Pre-School (KCIP).
He has also worked with NGOs, arts organizations and companies such as; Breakdance Project Uganda (BPU), Kigali Breaking Cypher(Rwanda), Imagination Circle, Collective Glow, Kyabise Collective, The boys Mentorship (Uganda), Breakfast Jam, Alliance Française, Brave Festival(Poland), Goethe Zentrum Kampala, U.S Mission Uganda, PCCP (Uganda), Pista Arts Centre, Check Breaking Style (Zanzibar), Skills Dance Fest, Batalo East, and many others.
He is one of the Ugandan breakers who took part in the 2020 Break Free Wide Championship, the first ever online global breakdance competition. He has won many local breakdance competitions, both as a solo dancer, and part of a crew. He has also featured in different music videos of both local and international artists.
He has attended different breaking workshops from experienced and gifted breaking(breakdance) teachers and mentors such as Abramz Tekya (Former RockSteady Crewmember), Nadeen Shine (SoulRebels Crew), Elnino (FloorLords), Focus (FlowMo Crew), Anijha (FSX/ MZK/ KIR), Bojin(HRC), Lilou (Redbull BC One Allstars/ Street Off), Sunnifourfizzy(Redbull BC One Allstars), Aino Simanyi (Eccentric squad), Niina Namaganda (Eccentric squad), Campanita (Ilegal Sistema), Intact (Ruffneck Attack) and Den(Ruffneck Attack).
